Executive Vice President, Communications

The Overview:

As the Executive Vice President of Communications at R&CPMK, you will have the unique opportunity to lead our brand communications (Public Relations) organization and shape the strategic direction of our team (40 people). You will continually look for opportunities for improvements with an emphasis on modernizing our offering, driving efficiency, consistency, and commercial success. You will play a pivotal role in assigning the right team members to the right clients, pursuing new business opportunities, and ensuring outstanding service for our existing clients.

A key aspect of this role is collaboration, not only within the brand organization but also across other agencies within our parent company, the Interpublic Group (IPG). By encouraging collaboration and bringing in multidimensional teams, you will contribute to the success of our Communications team.  

This role will oversee teams in our New York and Los Angeles offices and regional markets. This role is hybrid but must be based in our New York or Los Angeles offices.

The Fine Print:

Strategic Direction and Client Work

  • Maintain a big-picture strategic view of our largest agency comms clients’ business.
  • Drive brand strategy at the highest level, supporting client teams as needed.
  • Address the diverse and evolving needs of our clients by providing experienced counsel and creating programs that align with their business and marketing objectives.
  • Establish and cultivate connections with essential individuals in client organizations.
  • Maintain a commitment to excellence in conceiving top-tier ideas and flawlessly implementing them, resulting in exceptional client outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of industry-standard processes, competitor brand activity, and groundbreaking ideas and solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between IPG agencies and the communications field.

New Business and Growth

  • Design and implement a growth strategy for the Communications division.
  • Create and pitch compelling client plans as part of the senior management team.
  • Cultivate a spirit of teamwork among client teams, SIA, and creative teams, using planning, research, and creative tools to effectively attract new business.
  • Drive top-line and bottom-line results through effective oversight of revenue mix, resource optimization, and expense management.

People and Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Comms leaders to ensure smooth processes and optimal team assignments, whilst building a strong, connected, and engaged team that embodies our culture across all offices.
  • Lead senior communications meetings, covering budgets, forecasts, resources, and statements of work (SOW).
  • Foster consistency, transparency, and fairness across communications practice.
  • Ensure efficient time management and timely billing and reporting across all practices.
  • Partner with the People and Culture team to develop a standardized career development process that empowers team members to envision their growth opportunities within the client teams and the communications organization.
  • Collaborate with the agency’s finance team to communicate revenue-related information and lead the management of Comms team SRS and staffing plans to achieve margin goals.

The Needs:

We are looking for an experienced Public Relations leader who lives and breathes Popular Culture with experience in Lifestyle, CPG and Entertainment comms.    

  • Previous experience working across a variety of industry verticals but within a Public Relations/Communications agency is a must.  
  • Must have established relationships with journalists / media to enable the best for client outreach and placement.
  • Capability to recognize areas for improvement and identify potential solutions and opportunities for growth.
  • Experience leading large teams in multiple offices and global contexts is a plus.
  • Proven relationship skills, with the ability to interact and influence effectively across different geographies and organizational levels.
  • Experience working on cross-agency briefs and within a lead agency structure.
  • Track record of forward planning and projecting growth in clients and staffing.
  • Strong commercial competence and financial/budget management experience.
  • Excellent conflict management skills, with outstanding written, spoken, and presentation communication skills.
  • Industry credibility and the gravitas to command respect within the industry and the IPG network.

Salary: $220,000.00- $250,000.00 annually
